Implementing partner: Banlieues Bleues
Banlieues Bleues is a long standing association that was established in 1984 at the initiative of ten municipalities of the Seine Saint-Denis, a French “département” in the Ile-de-France region North of Paris.
It organizes a yearly festival under the same name and runs different musical and participative projects (“actions musicales”)throughout the year. Cultural action and education are at the core of its work.
As part of the Play Ground project, Banlieues Bleues organizes a series of musical workshops in collaboration with community centers, migrant associations and local schools in the multicultural districts of Clichy-sous-Bois and Seine Saint-Denis. The workshops are lead by accomplished musicians with strong social and educational skills and culminate in yearly performances at the Banlieues Bleues Festival in March.
